Meg Ryan breaks silence on adoption story and family drama
Meg Ryan, a renowned actress known for her iconic rom-com roles, recently shared a rare update about her 2-year-old adopted daughter, Daisy.
For the unversed, other than being a mother of a 32-year-old son, Jack Quaid, whom she shares with her former husband, Dennis Quaid, Meg adopted Daisy from China in 2006.
While shedding light on her decision of adoption in an interview with The Sunday Times, the 63-year-old Hollywood star quipped, “I always thought I’d adopt, and at various points I was on the brink of it.
She added, “But it was particular to Daisy, I guess. I don’t know how events conspired to bring us together, but it was perfect.”
The star of Top Gun also revealed that now Daisy is studying English literature at a college near New York City, and she has a dream of studying in Bath, England, one day.
During the interview, Meg did not discuss her son Jack, who also chose his career in the world of acting like his parents.
However, the actress of In the Land of Women previously talked about him in an interview with Glamour, responding to “nepo baby” claims.
Taking a jibe at the critics, Meg articulated, “You don’t wish it on anyone. It’s too hard and it’s too weird. Jack is really talented. He’s more of a natural than I’ll ever be.”
“That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege,” she remarked.
Noting that she has “two of the greatest kids,” The Doors actress mentioned, “They are hilarious, they’re smart, they are kind, they’re interested in other people, they’re curious about the world. I feel like both of them make the world a little better, and I just feel so proud of them.’
“It is a joy to me to know both of them,” Meg concluded by saying.
It is noteworthy to mention that Meg tied the knot with Dennis, the actor of The Substance, Interspace, Kin, Horseman, and Blue Miracle, in 1991, and after ten years of marriage, they parted ways in 2001.
