Liam Payne’s tragic death triggers ‘shocking’ discussion among X Factor judges
Liam Payne’s death has struck a chord with the music industry, leaving friends and colleagues devastated.
During an exclusive interview with News.co.uk about safeguarding and protecting stars on television, Dame Caroline Dinenage said, “Liam Payne’s tragic death re-opens the debate about how we protect people who have achieved incredible fame at a young age.
“It’s something the committee have regularly discussed with TV executives that appear in front of us.”
Payne started out his career as a contestant on ITV’s The X Factor in 2008 and 2010 after he was paired with four other contestants to form the hit boyband One Direction by show creator Simon Cowell.
However, after the singer fell to his death from a Buenos Aires hotel balcony in Argentina, many of his friends claimed that he lacked support like several other young stars who find fame through TV shows.
Former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne took to her Instagram to mourn the tragic death of the late singer in a post that read, “We all let you down. Where was this industry when you needed them?”
“You were just a kid when you entered one of the toughest industries in the world. Who was in your corner?”
Meanwhile, another X Factor contestant emphasized the need for change in the music industry.
She wrote, “Highlights the urgent need for change in the music industry”.
