King Charles, Kate Middleton’s health scares have shifted public perception: Expert
King Charles and Kate Middleton’s cancer battles have “humanized” them in the eyes of the public as they are not able to relate with the members of the Royal family, an expert has claimed.
According to royal expert Rhiannon Mills, the monarch and the Princess of Wales made the right decision on being open about their health scares as it has shown that they are “just like us.”
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive, the expert said Charles and Kate’s vulnerability has shifted public perception about the Royal family.
“It’s been a tricky year for the family,” the expert said. “In a way they’ve been humanised, because of the cancer diagnosis.”
“I think, for the Republican movement, it’s not a great year to try and give the Royal Family a bashing, over money,” she added. “I don’t think there’s the appetite from the public to have a go at them.”
Speaking of Kate’s Southport visit, Rhiannon said, “It’s been so rare to see her out in public this year. We knew that Prince William was going to go to Southport, we knew he was going to meet privately with the families.”
She continued: “I was there in the back garden, watching the Prince and Princess chatting to emergency service personnel. You could see etched on their faces, the strain of that visit.
“It was very emotionally charged. It doesn’t necessarily surprise me that she wanted to make that gesture. But in a year where we’ve seen so little from her, I think it’s all about those gestures.”
