On Thursday, Netflix released the trailer for the special, directed by Hamish Hamilton, which is scheduled to premiere on December 10.
The trailer shows the actor’s return to stand-up comedy for the first time in 18 years.
In the special, Foxx will “set the record straight” about his April 2023 medical emergency. Foxx says to the audience, “I’m back!” in the trailer, adding, “I’m so glad to see you all here. I’m so glad to be here.”
According to synopsis, the actor stated, “If I can stay funny, I can stay alive.”
It further reads, “Amidst laughter and applause, Jamie expresses deep gratitude to those who prayed and supported his recovery, turning this performance into a touching thank-you to his fans.”
While Foxx is set to address the incident in Netflix special, he previously shared his side of the story in his one man show One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx.
He revealed that the illness began with “bad headache” and then he was “gone for 20 days.”
